Before running the ingestion process, your audio files need to be correctly formatted and delivered to the right place. This guide covers both.
Audio file requirements
Supported formats
We accept the following audio formats:
- WAV — preferred
- AIF / AIFF
- MP3
Maximum resolution: 192 kHz / 24-bit. All files must be mono or stereo — multichannel formats are not supported.
File naming
Audio filenames must exactly match the value in the TRACK: Audio Filename column of your CSV, including the file extension (e.g. .wav, .aif).
Case sensitivity
Filenames are case sensitive.
CBL001_01.wavandCBL001_01.WAVare treated as different files.
Known transcoding issues
Some files transcoded to different sample rates and exported from certain DAWs have proven unreadable by the LAME and FFMPEG encoders used during ingestion. If you encounter audio that fails to process, check that:
- The file opens cleanly in a reference player
- The sample rate and bit depth are within the supported range
- The file was not exported through a lossy intermediate format
Contact [email protected] if the issue persists — sharing the problematic file helps us investigate.
Delivering your audio
Via Ingestigator (standard)
Ingestigator is our desktop app for uploading audio at scale. It sends files straight to your library’s Google Cloud storage.
- Ask the Cadenzabox team for Ingestigator and your library’s upload credentials.
- Drop your audio files into Ingestigator and let it upload them.
- In the admin, go to Ingest > Files and click Rescan GCloud so the new files are matched to your tracks.
Your library’s Ingestion target under Settings > General should read GCloud - Through Ingestigator.
Via Dropbox (legacy)
Libraries set up before Ingestigator deliver audio through a shared Dropbox folder. Dropbox is used only as a conduit; files are not stored there after ingestion.
- You will have been given access to a dedicated Dropbox folder by the Cadenzabox team.
- Upload all audio files into that folder, organised as a flat list (no subfolders unless instructed otherwise).
- In the admin, go to Ingest > Files and click Rescan Dropbox, or let the team know once your upload is complete.
Via FTP (alternative)
If Dropbox is not available to you, a private FTP space can be arranged. Note that this may introduce a slight delay to your onboarding. Contact [email protected] to request this.
Delivery checklist
Before notifying the team that your audio is ready:
- All files are WAV, AIF/AIFF, or MP3
- All files are mono or stereo
- Filenames match exactly what is in the
TRACK: Audio Filenamecolumn of your CSV - No duplicate filenames in the delivery folder
- Files open cleanly in a local audio player
Once your audio is in place, move on to Prepare your metadata and then Ingest your metadata & audio.
